A story of a dancer and an army captain who meet by chance on Waterloo Bridge, as told in an extended flashback narration

This terrible wartime drama was the 1940 remake of the 1931 film which was in turn adapted from the 1930 play of the same name by Robert Sherwood. The railway station is an elaborate set, as is the Underground station frontage, but the film does include one excellent shot of a GWR express hauled by a ‘Castle’ Class 4-6-0. Nothing to do with Waterloo at all then!

This excellent tracking shot of a ‘Castle’ Class 4-6-0 was almost certainly taken from a GWR publicity film. Note the station just visible beyond the bridge in the background.
