VERY ANNIE MARY

GB
2001
1hr 44mins
Dir: Sara Sugarman
Starring: Rachel Griffiths and Jonathan Pryce

After her father suffers a stroke, a woman is forced to take care of him but uses the circumstances to emancipate herself

This Welsh comedy is set partly in the village of Pont-y-Rhyl in the Garw Valley, and there are two scenes with Rachel Griffiths walking along the disused track bed of the former Blaengarw branch from Tondu, which closed in 1997. It is currently the source of a preservation attempt.
