A sanitation inspector is mistaken for a spy

This comedy has a scene towards the end where Soviet trains are being stopped and searched in the hope of finding George Cole. This did not of course take place in Russia, but instead used the British system. The scene takes place at night, and though it is difficult to confirm otherwise, it appears to have been filmed on the Longmoor Military Railway using Liss Forest Road station and a train hauled by the LMR’s American-built USATC S160 Class 2-8-0 No.700 Major General Carl R Gray Jnr. The locomotive was Alco works/no.71512/1944 and it is masquerading as a Russian equivalent. This is in fact pretty authentic as 110 of these locomotives were built by Alco for use in the Soviet Union where they were designated Class ШA (ShA) (or USATC S166). The Longmoor example was scrapped in October 1957.

This is thought to be Liss Forest Road station on the Longmoor Military Railway, whilst the locomotive is USATC S160 Class 2-8-0 No.700 Major General Carl R Gray Jnr. Note the Soviet-style adornments to the front end.
This detrainment was probably also filmed at Liss
