A documentary style film following the existence of a pair of deaf-mute dock workers

This production is one of the original Free Cinema shorts, the majority of which were made cheaply, for no more than a few hundred pounds, mostly with grants from the British Film Institute’s Experimental Production Fund. Together was no exception, but it was still the only narrative film included in the original Free Cinema programme as presented at the National Film Theatre in 1956. Filmed entirely around Stepney and Bethnel Green there is one shot of a train of suburban coaches passing over viaduct arches.

This street scene was probably filmed around the Stepney area of East London, though the exact location is not known. If one looks really closely, one can see overhead wires above the train.
