A WWII veteran escapes his care home to go to France for the 75th anniversary of D-Day
This drama is based on a true story that made national news about pensioner Bernard Jordan who absconded from his care home in Hove, Sussex, to attend an event in France marking the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The film appears to be the Northern Irish equivalent of The Great Escaper, released the same year and based on the same story. It has quite a few scenes of Pierce Brosnan onboard the ‘Enterprise’ cross-border service with one shot of him alighting at what appears to be Belfast Lanyon Place station. There is also an excellent shot of a Class 3000 3-car DMU crossing Craigmore Viaduct, just outside Newry, County Armagh.
