THE GREAT VAN ROBBERY

GB
1959

Dir: Max Varnel
Starring: Denis Shaw and Kay Callard

Scotland Yard teams up with Interpol to discover the origins of stolen money from a raid on a Royal Mint van

This rather decent crime drama features a shot of the Victoria Embankment in London where there is a glimpse of the frontage to the old Charing Cross Underground station. The film was released in the UK in January 1959, but it would not be until 1963 that it was released in the US.

This is a shot looking west along Victoria Embankment with Hungerford Bridge in the background. To the right is the building of Charing Cross Underground station. The redeveloped entrance now forms a part of Embankment station but the building visible here has become a nightclub.
