The story of a Danish artist’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer
This biographical drama is based on the 2000 novel of the same name by David Ebersdorf, but was widely criticised for its inaccurate portrayal of historical events. Much of the action takes place in Brussels, Copenhagen and Paris, so it stands to reason that a British railway location is used to add to the ‘historical inaccuracies’. The engine shed at the Didcot Railway Centre steps in as ‘Paris’, with one GWR coach branded ‘CHEMINS FRANCAIS added for effect. Look out for the QUAI sign (French for platform) that is visible in some scenes, this being the only other indication that Didcot was standing in as a foreign location. Two locomotives feature, one of which is ex-GWR 4300 Class 2-8-0 No.5322.
