THE CAT GANG

GB
1959
50mins
Dir: Darrell Catling
Starring: Francesca Annis and John Pike

A group of children observe suspicious activity in their local village which leads to a gang of smugglers

This Children’s Film Foundation adventure was filmed entirely within Lymington, Hampshire, and we are treated to a lovely shot of a two-coach branch train crossing the Lymington River hauled by an M7 Class 0-4-4T. The film is also notable for featuring a very young Francesca Annis in her first film role.

In this view looking through binoculars, a Lymington branch train is crossing the bridge over the Lymington River in the centre of the town. The two-coach train is hauled by an ex-SR M7 Class 0-4-4 tank.
