A businessman is framed for a murder he didn’t commit

This neat little crime thriller features a journey that supposedly involves the ‘Hook Continental’. There are scenes at both London Liverpool Street and Harwich Parkeston Quay stations with good shots of carmine and cream liveried coaching stock but no locomotives. However, a shot of the train journey in progress is represented by a stock shot of an unrebuilt LMS ‘Royal Scot’ Class 4-6-0 from Brief Encounter (qv), passing through Carnforth on an express.

This is the old taxi rank outside the old Liverpool Street station in London
And the old staircase with elevated cafe inside the station
‘The Hook Continental’ from Liverpool Street to Harwich stands awaiting custom
This is the stock shot from Brief Encounter which, for some inexplicable reason, is repeated straight after it has appeared in the film. Why play it twice in succession??
A second unit or stock shot of passengers ebbing and flowing at Harwich Parkeston Quay station
