Despite infidelity, romance and murder, a small group of scientists lead the way to the first manned space flight

This science fiction film was based on a radio play by Charles Eric Maine and features a scene early on where an Austin K8 van crosses over a level crossing. This was Pooley Green level crossing, in Egham, Surrey, and it is seen again towards the end of the film at night with a freight train crossing, though as it is dark it is barely recognisable. There is also a scene that takes place in a block of flats that overlooks the Central Line of the London Underground as it runs parallel to the Greenford Loop. Although a freight train is passing in one shot it is almost totally obscured.
