SAILING ALONG

GB
1938
1hr 37mins
Dir: Sonnie Hale
Starring: Jessie Matthews and Jack Whiting

Brought up on a sailing barge after her parents are drowned, a young woman dreams of stardom

This lovely musical comedy with the usual vivacious performance from Jessie Matthews has a scene filmed on a barge on the River Thames at night close to Westminster Bridge. A shed load of trams can be seen crossing the bridge in the distance, but given the age and quality of the film, most are quite indistinct.

Two trams can be made out crossing the background of this shot
The tram to the upper left of this shot is somewhat clearer
The tram in this more distant view of Westminster Bridge can be seen between the two masts of the boat
It’s quite clear when you now where to look
