A spy from behind the Iron Curtain swaps identities with his assassin

This short crime film was part of the Scotland Yard series, a series of 39 episodes produced by Anglo-Amalgamated between 1953 and 1961. They are short films, largely half-hour in length, that were originally made to support the main feature in a cinema double-bill. Each film focused on a true crime case, with only the names changed, and featured an introduction by the crime writer Edgar Lustgarten. Person Unknown was No.18 in the series. These films should not be confused with the BBC television series of the same name broadcast in 1960 which are unrelated. Person Unknown has a brief scene filmed at Amberley station on the Arun Valley line in West Sussex with a formation of 2 BIL EMU’s arriving led by unit No.2097.

The police make enquiries with the station porter on platform 2 at Amberley station.
Framed by the lattice footbridge, 2 BIL EMU No.2097 leads a formation into Amberley station. The headcode should have another digit as ‘7’ at this time was for London Bridge-Brighton (slow) via Quarry.
