Paul Temple is on the trail of an international gang of criminals trying to steal atomic secrets

This crime drama was the third of four Paul Temple films made at Nettlefold Studios, and was an adaptation of the 1939 Francis Durbridge radio serial News of Paul Temple. The latter half of the film is set in The New Forest, but exactly how much was shot there remains to be seen as the station that features was in fact Horsley, in Surrey. There are also two stock shots of ‘The Bournemouth Belle’ hauled by streamlined ‘Merchant Navy’ pacifics, the latter of which is passing through the centre road of Walton-on-Thames station on the LSWR main line.

This is Horsley station in Surrey, which is little changed today
A ‘SpamCan’ on ‘The Bournemouth Belle’, in this case a ‘Merchant Navy’ in the relatively short-lived BR express passenger blue
Another ‘Merchant Navy’ on the ‘Belle’, this time captured passing through Walton-on-Thames station. This ‘SpamCan’ is in the earlier malachite green with sunshine yellow lining but, rather unusually, has no evidence of ownership on its tender.
