Opening a tea room after a win on the football pools, a working class family soon become the target of the snobbish mother of the local landowner

This comedy features an opening shot of the industrial town of Widnes in Cheshire. Curving majestically across the scene is the northern approach to Runcorn (Ethelfleda) Bridge. The viaduct here has 65 arches in total on this side of the Mersey, 49 arches plus 16 interspersed by a small section of embankment. A further 33 arches are on the southern (Runcorn) side of the river. No trains are visible, but the viaduct is worthy enough for inclusion!

This is a view looking north-west from the top of the Widnes tower of the Widnes Transporter Bridge crossing the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal in Cheshire. The view includes the railway viaduct leading to Runcorn (Ethelfleda) Bridge, the adjacent West Bank Power Station and houses on Viaduct Street curving away to the bottom right. In the extreme left hand foreground is the muddy waters of the Mersey.
