LABURNUM GROVE

Dir: Carol Reed
Starring: Cedric Hardwicke and Ethel Coleridge

In order to rid himself of his sponging relatives, a grandad tells the rest of his family he is a successful forger, only he is in fact telling the truth

This comedy was based on the 1933 play of the same name by J. B. Priestley and features a brief scene onboard a train with four gentlemen playing ‘Find the Lady’. This is entirely studio-bound, yet the back-projection outside shows the train arriving at a station.

The view out of the window shows a station. Although it is very grainy, it is a station none the less.
