2023
2hrs 34mins
Dir: James Mangold
Starring: Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas

Archaeologist Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary artifact that can change the course of history

This action adventure is the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, but comes a whole fifteen years after its prequel: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). Harrison Ford proved as popular as ever though the film was something of a let down. It was, however, the first Indiana Jones film to feature anything UK railway related. The production team have taken the usual liberties with regards to special effects, and used track constructed in a Peak District quarry for the 2023 film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckong Part One (qv). The main railway sequence also used the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, but the train is a CGI creation and the interior shots used a Pinewood Studio set. The railway viaduct seen during proceedings was Leaderfoot (or Drygrange) Viaduct near Melrose in the Scottish Borders, closed to trains in 1965.
