The true story of writer John Ruskin’s marriage to the young Euphemia Gray
The marriage of the writer and art critic John Ruskin to the nineteen year old Euphemia ‘Effie’ Gray is well documented historically, and this biographical drama follows in the wake of these accounts. However, it was not a success and, when it isn’t depressing, it seems a little confused at what it should really be. It features a distant, lingering shot of a steam-hauled passenger train crossing Glenfinnan Viaduct – no doubt this is ‘The Jacobite’.
