Winnie-the-Pooh helps Christopher Robin rediscover the joys of life
This live-action Disney drama may wish to charm but tries far too hard to reignite the lives of many who remember the A. A. Milne stories from childhood. Christopher Robin and his little friends have all sadly grown up. The ‘human’ characters do carry their roles well, but the whole is in reality a typical Disney tale. Critically well received it may have been, but the film misplaces its sense of fun and is unnecessarily miserable. Still, Goodbye Christopher Robin from the previous year was far worse in that respect (qv). It has some scenes filmed on the Bluebell Railway, with Pooh taking a ride on a train, and some shots filmed at the old Dover Marine station.
