A university lecturer struggles with his personal life

This drama is an adaptation from Simon Gray’s 1971 play of same name and is shot almost entirely within the lecturer’s classroom. However, at the beginning of the film Alan Bates takes the Underground to work. We first see him standing smoking (!) on the platform at Kilburn Park station on the Bakerloo Line, followed then by scenes onboard a train. There is a problem with this sequence however. The shots of the trains appear to show 1959-built tube stock, a type of train not used on the Bakerloo Line until 1983.

Alan Bates at Kilburn Park….or is he?
This is another film with a hugely confusing Underground sequence. The sign through the window appears to read Kilburn Park, but the train appears to be 1959 stock on a Piccadilly Line service.
My guess is that this shows a 1959 Piccadilly Line train at Aldwych, masquerading as Kilburn Park for the film
A busy scene onboard a 1959 stock train. The route map is not clear enough to confirm, but it has two ‘arms’, which would correspond to the Uxbridge and Hounslow West branches of the Piccadilly (the first extension to Hatton Cross not taking place until 1975).
