Dir: Robert Dhéry and Pierre Tchernia
Starring: Robert Dhéry and Collette Brosset

In France for a rugby match, a Frenchman is inadvertently mistaken for a British policeman

This rollicking comedy is extremely good natured and great fun to watch. Although it is French, all the filming took place in London and Windsor. As the film pits the biggest French comic actors of the time with some equally fine British talent the whole feels very much like a Carry On film of the era, only with slightly better class. There is a glimpse of the entrance to Ladbroke Grove Underground station at the beginning and some shots filmed in and around the entrance to Windsor and Eton Central station.

This is Ladbroke Grove, W10. The entrance to the Underground station is just on the right. One wonders what happened to the magnificent enamel roundel on the bridge.
These are the steps leading down onto Goswell Hill in Windsor with Windsor & Eton Central station behind. The sign on the wall reads ‘British Railways Goods Shed Closed All Enquiries to Parcels Office Central Station’.
There is nothing railway related in this shot per se but I thought it worthy of inclusion. This is the corner of Primrose Hill Road and Regent’s Park Road in NW3 and attached to the lamppost on the right is a red BR (Midland Region) enamel sign pointing the way to Primrose Hill station 300 yards away. The station led a Cinderella existence in later years and closed in 1992.
