An irresponsible window cleaner believes he has found true love with a woman he picked up in a tavern

Part bawdy romp, part kitchen sink drama, this film is an appalling spectacle that is based on the 1968 novel of the same name by Jane Gaskell. It has a number of street scenes filmed in South London with suburban EMU’s crossing bridges, plus a scene filmed inside a flat in the Battersea area with a couple of electric units passing by outside the window, though these are rather indistinct. In addition, there are glimpses of the entrances to both Tooting Bec Underground station and London Paddington main line station.

Behind the angry girlfriend in this shot is Tooting Bec Underground station
Here, a 4 SUB has been captured crossing Smuggler’s Way, Wandsworth, just to the west of Wandsworth Town station
This is Southolm Street, London SW11, with a 4 SUB (thought to still be in BR green) crossing the street above
Panning round to the left and the same train crosses the same street, which is split into two sections hereabouts. The train is crawling along the Down Brighton Slow between Battersea Park station and Pouparts Junction.
The Praed Street entrance to Paddington station is in the background of this view looking down London Street
