BABY LOVE

GB
1968
1hr 33mins
Dir: Alastair Reid
Starring: Linda Hayden and Keith Barron

A libidinous schoolgirl seduces her adoptive family after her mother commits suicide

There is one aerial view in this really dull drama of a train passing through an equally dull industrial landscape. The train is distant and going-away from the camera but it appears to be a pair of DMU’s. The location is Southall with the gasworks prominent in the foreground. In addition to this there are brief glimpses of the rear of a passenger train formed of BR Mk.1 coaching stock and a slow-moving freight train, the latter largely obscured from view through editing. These were filmed from The Straight in Southall. The film is based on the 1968 novel of the same name by Tina Chad Christian.

A familiar site to many and star of a number of feature films over the years, Southall Gasworks was redeveloped during 2019. The train seems rather insignificant overall.
Although this is much clearer only the last few carriages of this express are seen before it passes out of shot.
Much less of this freight train can be seen, as it has been edited so that the open mineral wagons are passing along the bottom of the picture
