THE POT CARRIERS

GB
1962

Dir: Peter Graham Scott
Starring: Ronald Fraser and Carole Lesley

A young prisoner struggles to gain a foothold on his first prison stretch

This comedy drama was a remake of the eponymous 1960 ITV Play of the Week by Mike Watts. Although filmed largely within Wandsworth Prison there are scenes near the beginning that were shot at London Waterloo station. Notable here is an overall establishing shot of the station from the air and an excellent shot of 4 SUB EMU No.4674 arriving on Headcode 62, Waterloo-Waterloo via Teddington.

A fine establishing shot of Waterloo station in London
Down beneath the glazed canopy, 4 SUB EMU No.4674 arrives into platform 1 with a circular service via Teddington, Note how the passengers are starting to open the doors in true commuter fashion!
Finally, this is a view looking out of Waterloo’s main station entrance onto Mepham Street. The bridge carrying the lines into Charing Cross is visible in the background.
