Members of a village Purity League branch find things much livelier on a trip to London

This comedy involves trips to and from London for the Puritans and a number of trains feature during these sequences. For the inbound journey there is a partly obscured shot of an express, the locomotive of which is not identifiable, followed by a fairly rare shot of LNER K2 Class 2-6-0 No.4664 arriving at King’s Cross. The return journey features a pair of SR N15 ‘King Arthur’ Class 4-6-0’s at what appears to be London Bridge, with No.780 Sir Persant leaving the station closest to the camera. This then is followed by a run-by of LNER A3 Class 4-6-2 No.4472 Flying Scotsman before it was really famous.

As Leslie Henson and Robertson Hare sit in the studio-bound carriage set a train passes by as part of a background montage.
London arrival: LNER K2 Class 2-6-0 No.4664 pulls into King’s Cross
London departure: A pair of King Arthur’s with No.780 Sir Persant nearest the camera. This looks like it could possibly be London Bridge.
LNER Class A3 4-6-2 No.4472 Flying Scotsman. Although this may originally have been a stock shot from somewhere, it later appeared in the 1957 film The One That Got Away (qv). A similar shot, only in reverse, can also be found in The Man in the Road (1956).
