Dick Barton uncovers a ring of international criminals that have plans to use a weapon of mass destruction
This was the last of the trio of Dick Barton spy films that started with Dick Barton Special Agent (qv). Whereas that film featured a railway sequence this one has just a very distant shot of trams in Blackpool as seen from the top of the tower. The film’s title during production was Dick Barton and the Silent Plague but any hope of a fourth film was dashed after leading star Don Stannard was killed in a car crash shortly after this film was released. He was only 34. The second film, Dick Barton at Bay, was released after his death, in 1950.
