THE REPTILE

GB
1966
1hr 30mins
Dir: John Gilling
Starring: Ray Barrett and Jacqueline Pearce

A mysterious doctor keeps his reptilian daughter under lock and key, only for her to start attacking local villagers

This Hammer horror was better than most of the era and is a film of some merit. It features two really good railway scenes, a brief sequence filmed at Loudwater station in Buckinghamshire, and an excellent and wholly unexpected run past of the train from The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953)!!

The train to Titfield. In what is clearly an unused stock shot from the classic Ealing comedy The Titfield Thunderbolt (qv), ex-GWR 1400 Class 0-4-2T No.1401 hauls its branch train along the Limpley Stoke-Camerton branch. A delightful surprise indeed.
A beautiful study of Loudwater station, on the Maidenhead-High Wycombe line which sadly closed beyond Bourne End in 1970
