THE THIRD VISITOR

GB
1951
1hr 25mins
Dir: Maurice Elvey
Starring: Sonia Dresdel and Guy Middleton

A suave but conceited recluse receives several callers to his isolated house, and the next morning his corpse is found

This neat crime film is based on a play by Gerald Anstruther and features an early view looking up Ludgate Hill towards St Pauls Cathedral. A mixed freight is crossing the now removed Ludgate Hill Viaduct, but it is edited in such a way that the locomotive has already passed out of shot.

This classic view of St. Paul’s Cathedral has plenty of atmosphere, and a train adds further to this. The clean white smoke is visible, but the wagons of the freight train less so. The engine is out of shot.
