Survivors of the rage inducing virus living safely on an island come under threat from infected inhabitants of the mainland
This post-apocalyptic horror is the third instalment of the “28” film series, coming after 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007) – both qv. It has a scene where survivors stumble across an abandoned railway that was filmed on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey in North Yorkshire. A pair of derelict InterCity Mk.2s were used for filming, which took place adjacent to the Low Lane overbridge at Draughton engineers siding, but their exact identity is not known. They probably came from nearby Carnforth and one has the fictitious identity of ‘1804’ (which was in fact a Mk.1). Pseudo-InterCity-liveried Class 31 No.31452 borrowed from Eastern Rail Services at Great Yarmouth was also used in this sequence. This sequel was followed by another only seven months later – re 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
