Starring: Terence Stamp and Lauren Bacall

A young actress seeks to follow in the footsteps of her famous mother

This rather poor romantic drama is based on Noel Langley’s 1936 novel There’s a Porpoise Close Behind Us and features a station scene at the end that was in fact filmed in the transfer shed at the Didcot Railway Centre. The back end of GWR 4500 Class 2-6-2T No.5572 is briefly visible in the one scene.

The film may be rather dull but this is quite good. As the train on platform 5 is readied for departure another sits alongside in platform 4. This is in fact the transfer shed at the Didcot Railway Centre.
The view from the window of the train as it departs, watched from the platform by a member of the station staff. Partially visible on the right is the bunker of No.5572 whilst the GWR carriage is Hawksworth Brake Third Corridor No.2202
