A Cambridge archaeologist goes into occupied Europe to rescue victims of Nazi persecution

Based on the “Pimpernel” Smith novel by A. G. Macdonnell, this popular war thriller has the ubiquitous journey by train across Europe formed of the usual studio sets with random stock footage slotted in. The only recognisable British railway element is a darkened shot of a GWR express passing through Saltford station, though it is edited in such a way that the locomotive is not visible.

This is the single British Railway shot in the film, and its about ten minutes from the end. A GWR express of non-corridor stock passes through Saltford station at night.
