GORGEOUS LABOUR OF LOVE

Amidst the decaying ruins of London, people search for their destiny

This surreal short fantasy silent is driven by a contemporary music hall libretto and some elaborate make-up. Despite the undeniable artistic quality of the film it is all rather obscure, though it does feature some scenes that were filmed on the Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park. In these, appearances are made by what appears to be a BR Standard loco as well as the SECR O1 Class 0-6-0. There are also a couple of shots of the frontage to St Pancras station.

This is the opening shot in the film, and it shows what appears to be a BR Standard loco in close up
This is a close up of the wheels and motion to the SECR O1 Class 0-6-0 No.65
The artistic shots continue with this close up image of the locomotive crew on the footplate of the Class O1
A train of vintage coaching stock stands amidst the smoke and steam
The train of destiny draws into Sheffield Park station hauled by O1 No.65
St Pancras station forms the backdrop here
This, however, is unusual. One of the cast stands on the balcony of St Pancras Hotel, the first time I have ever seen anyone there!!
