Sherlock Holmes’ teenage sister goes to London in search of her mother who has disappeared

This young adult mystery film is based on the 2007 novel The Enola Holmes Mysteries: The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer, and it proved surprisingly successful. It features a railway journey on the Severn Valley Railway with Kidderminster Town and Arley stations featuring, along with a shot of the train crossing the Victoria Bridge across the Severn. Filming took place between Kidderminster and Arley from 14th to 17th July 2018, with that section of the railway closed to the public. Passenger services ran instead only between Bridgnorth and Highley. Although set in 1884, the train was an early 20th century consist of GWR 2-8-0 No.2857 with the Toplights set of 3930, 9055, 6913 and 9103. It did not include ‘Siphon G’ 1257 which was part of the set used for filming at Arley, which masqueraded in the film as ‘Ferndell’. Post-production, the film was augmented by CGI footage with differences in locomotive and length of train. Insights into the production were gleaned from the SVRWiki.
